Gumpaste is a dough-like substance that is edible but not very tasty.  Gum paste is malleable enough to form delicate flowers, ribbons and figures.  The dough becomes bone-dry when exposed to air.  Due to the use of floral wire and floral tape, gumpaste flowers generally should not be eaten.
